What I have noticed about how girls are raised is that they are taught to value being polite over what their insticts tell them about another individual. For example, if a girl encounters a person who feels threatening, she may be uncomfortable ignoring or telling the person to back off. Instead, she may engage the person to answer a question or suffer harassment because she is afraid to be perceived as bitchy or rude. We need to raise girls who trust their instrincts and act accordingly without second guessing themselves.
