Well, Amy, it's like this:
I don't believe in rigid, gender roles. We are all different in abilities and needs.
I don't believe God is a man.
I don't believe that being transgender or gay is a sin -- after all, the divine doesn't make mistakes.
(And Leviticus also wanted us not to eat pork, shrimp, or wear polyester -- but we do.)
I don't believe males and females have 'complimentary' roles --at least I don't. Anyone can do either role and occupations are fair game for either.
Oh, and I doubt you would consider me your kind of 'lady.' I curse like a sailor, quite often-- speak freely, almost always.
If respecting someone's gender helps another's self identity, I'm going to do it -- even if it is slightly inconvenient to remember the person's pronoun.
