For weeks, my partner and I have had an aggressive, delusional family member, appearing to suffer from extreme mental illness, harass and threaten the people around him — and the law and mental health system have done nearly nothing to help him or us.
Two weeks ago, his current girlfriend obtained a restraining order against him for attacking her, after throwing him out of their rental house.
The way downward spiral had begun…
He started blowing up our phones with texts containing bizarre messages about how she was the one with a rare, never before documented, mental disorder and claiming she was granted a restraining order based solely on false accusations.
Yeah, right.
We didn’t know what to think, but his texts grew more frantic, insistent, and he demanded that we let him come stay with us at our home — not happening, not now not ever.
