I'm not sure what to make of an individual who committed suicide because his genitalia was damaged after birth. It seems anecdotal, at best, and leaves many questions as to why he committed suicide.

Some hormone levels and anatomical differences are present in males and females, but to what extent this influences social roles no one is certain as social conditioning often begins right after birth.

I believe gender is on a continuum, with some individuals at various points along it.

As a 'tomboy' I can tell you that the narrowly prescribed role assigned to females early on in life didn't allow me to pursue all of my interests, so I veered in another direction, which bucked traditional norms. Society pushes back against those who don't follow norms, less against tomboys and more towards boys who lean more feminine.
