Kyle Rittenhouse, The 17 Year Old Child

Something about the Kyle Rittenhouse murder case bothers me nearly as much as the atrocious, senseless murders of young men that occurred that night. In my mind’s eye, I see a baby-faced, pouty-lipped, child with an enormous, high powered gun, meandering around a protest and riot scene, with the notion…

Riding With ‘The Boys’

Healing From an Affair One Ride at a Time. — Do you remember the final moment you trusted your partner— and the long road spent recovering from the betrayal afterward? I do. On my first bike ride after I learned I would soon be facing a divorce, it took every bit of resolve just to push myself up the first hill. I cried, but no one noticed because it was a hot day, and I just swiped away the gritty tracks running…

Welcome to the World of the Invisible Woman

Or just a super rant from a tenacious female who failed to mellow with age. — Face it, guys, you thought we held power over you when you could see us — a wink, a sly smile, a come-hither stare. Uh-huh! Well, you ain’t seen nothing, Baby, just wait until you witness what we do in our invisible universe! Do we set your Spidey Senses a’tingling…

Strange, Strange America

Today, I ventured out to try a new Mexican restaurant. I had a coupon, and if you know me, a coupon is rarely wasted where I am concerned. The new restaurant was formerly a bar, and I think some of the patrons from the last place still visited the place, and perhaps hadn’t even noticed the change in ownership or the new name. I was seated next to two men, whom I was close enough that I could have reached over and touched them, but of course I had no desire to do that, so I just listened in to their enlightening discussion as I waited for my lunch.

Losing My Religion, One Piece At A Time

And Why I Won’t Say I’m Sorry. — In my childhood, I was raised by my Italian father’s faith, the Roman Catholic Church. I loved the pipe organ’s bellowing sound like it was blasting the sins right out of our flesh and bones, and the angelic voices from the choir loft seemed to envelope us like a soft…

Check Yourself, Herschel, or You Might Wreck Yourself. He Says ‘Family Values,’ I Call BS.

Herschel seems to need a spreadsheet, so he can keep track of his children, baby mamas, and the questionable values he preaches, especially about abortion and absentee fathers. — Herschel Walker claims he is ‘pro-life’ and ‘pro-family,’ once stating that “strong families are the bedrock of our country.” Sure, sure Herschel. But according to the Daily Beast, even his campaign staff wondered exactly how many kids he’s fathered and with whom, so there would be no big, 11th hour surprises, but guess what? Here we go:

The Right is Completely Wrong: Abortion is Part of Our Cultural Tradition — and the Choice Should be Safe and Legal.

Was there ever a human history free of abortion? Probably not, as abortion has been practiced by many women over different cultures, recorded in texts and chronicled, from passages in the Bible to practical, how-to manuals of more contemporary times. Why, because most women are fertile for around 30 to 40 years of their lives and sometimes unwanted pregnancies happen when they want them least. Some, especially those on the political right, and often those…

There’s A Lot Wrong with the Bible’s Story of Lot

Trigger alert — If you interpret the Bible literally or are easily offended by challenging the Bible’s contents, do me a favor and don’t read this. You likely know the story of Lot, or at least you think you do — set in the city of Sodom, one of the…

Ketanji Brown Jackson and the Right’s Obsession to Define a ‘Woman’

Ketanji Brown Jackson and the Right’s Obsession to Define a ‘Woman’ Republican senators of the “Wah, but they did worse to Brett Kavanaugh” persuasion had been grilling Ketanji Brown Jackson, trying to rake her over the coals, for days, going for a big win, ‘gotcha’ moment, whereas they could publicly…

“Thin Thighs in Thirty Days” — OR Not!

Wendy, Wendy Wendy, where should I start with my rant? As an insecure 14-year-old buying into my fashion-conscious, Los Angeles, hometown scene, I bought your little book, above-entitled and expected wonderful results that would bring me thin thighs, which would, of course, make me more popular, desirable, and whatever else…
